The Tooele Third District Courts is home to the Third District Adult and Juvenile Courts. Under a design-build contract with MHTN Architects, Layton finished the new courts facility in January of 2007.
The two-story facility was constructed using a steel-frame structure and concrete sheer walls with a brick and stone exterior facade. High-end finishes, such as high quality millwork and lavish Italian tiles, were used in the entryway and interior of the building.
Features of the courts facility include three courtrooms with attached judges chambers and administrative areas, clerk areas, file storage areas, and space for the State of Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management. Additionally, the basement has holding cells and a new covered corridor which connects the new facility to the adjacent jail.
