The Special Operations Center is a 42,000 SF building used for storage for Salt Lake County Special Operations as well as evidence storage and processing.
The Special Operations Center was built entirely by Layton as part of a change order for the $108 million Salt Lake County Adult Detention Center.
The building is divided in use. Half of the space is used for Salt Lake County Operations including canyon rescue, swift-water rescue, canine operations, etc. The other half (just over 20,000 SF) is used as evidence storage and processing. Included in the area are gun lockers, a vault housing a drug room, blood cooler room, ammunitions room and money room.
