Layton completed the R.C. Willey Intermountain Distribution Center, an 860,000 ft2 facility located in the Salt Lake International Center, in August 1997.

The building’s footprint is 730,000 ft2, with an additional 130,000 ft2 mezzanine consisting of office space, racquetball courts, a weight room, a kitchen/break room and a paint shop. The building’s exterior is comprised of approximately 330 concrete precast panels, each 12 ft wide by 50 ft tall. The distribution center has 106 dock door openings.

Layton achieved record flatness levels of f65 min. during the pouring of over 600,000 ft2 of superflat concrete floors. The flooring system is critical to R.C. Willey’s operations, which utilizes narrow aisle vehicles (NAV) to retrieve merchandise from high bay racking systems as high as 40 ft.
