Layton’s most recent project for home furnishings and electronics superstore RC Willey is an expansion facility in Reno, Nevada. The facility includes a 100,000 ft2 showroom, featuring high-end finishes designed to simulate home surroundings with elaborate displays, stamped concrete and other unique touches. The building also has a 50,000 ft2 warehouse and 30,000 ft2 mezzanine for employee services.

This project had an aggressive, fast track schedule and meeting the estimated completion date was a major hot button for RC Willey. During construction, Reno had the worst winter weather it had seen in 96 years. Many adjacent projects in the community had to stop construction because of the harsh weather. RC Willey had no schedule loss, however, because of aggressive concrete efforts, including breaking Layton’s single-day tilt-up volume record.
