Pioneer Valley Hospital contracted with Layton to remodel and expand the hospital. Layton constructed 16,000 ft2 of new emergency room space and two separate entrances for ambulances and walk-in patients. The project also included remodeling radiology, endoscopy, baby nursery hospital laboratory, central sterilization and outpatient service areas. In addition, Layton expanded the parking lot and performed 38,000 ft2 of cosmetic improvements to the surgery area and patient rooms.

Hospital operations were not impacted because Layton scheduled the project with minimal building section shut downs at a time. Layton controlled the spreading of airborne contaminants from the construction area throughout the building by creating negative pressure in all work areas.

With both owner and architect residing out of state, Layton worked to understand their expectations through good communication. Layton minimized cost impacts to IASIS by covering the scope up front.
