The University of Utah required a high quality building to house its new Orthopaedic Center, a leading center in the Intermountain West for orthopaedic and musculoskeletal patient care, research and education.
The building’s structure and appearance is very unique in that there are no specific shapes to the design. Massive structural steel makes up the main body of the building. The center’s features include exam rooms, exercise and physical therapy facilities, a therapy pool, patient observation center, surgical center, digital radiology, bone densitometry and MRI facilities.
Because the building is a health care facility, Layton made an extra effort to keep the area clean during construction. Layton also needed to complete the building and its adjacent parking structure quickly, so the construction for both were scheduled simultaneously. |
