Layton demolished three older buildings at the McKay Dee Hospital which contained asbestos materials, and the area was landscaped in preparation for sale. Layton also extended a bridge to an existing parking structure and remodeled the foyer in the surgical center. The owner’s representative was very busy and did not want this project to be high maintenance.

McKay Dee Hospital requested that Layton not disrupt operations at the surgical center during demolition. Vibrations were monitored during the first few weeks of demolition to ensure Layton did not affect the surgical center’s operations.

A six-story building adjoining the surgical center was demolished. Layton left the foundation wall in place where the two buildings adjoin and compact filled behind it. Protecting the existing facilities included covering the windows of the surgical center and sheltering the parking structure with steel plates while taking down the older buildings. Layton employees did an excellent job making sure that safe demolition practices were followed and the project was successful.
