The John A. Moran Eye Center, the heart of ophthalmic research and clinical and ophthalmic education in the Western United States, is located at the University of Utah.

The facility includes an auditorium, three operating rooms, a post-op care facility, research labs, examination rooms and office facilities. An elevated glass corridor leads from the post-op area to the University Hospital for those patients requiring overnight accommodations.

With additional funding becoming available, the client opted to add more labs and a day care center and finish off future office spaces. Nearly two years after the initial completion, additional funding allowed the owner to contract with Layton to convert the day care and other spaces into additional lab spaces.
