Layton celebrated its 50th year of business in 2003. Major company milestones include:
1953 Layton Construction is founded by Alan W. Layton
1958 The company expands and moves from a home-based business into its first office space
1972 Layton is awarded its first $1 Million project
1979 Alan S. Layton becomes president of Layton Construction Company
1987 Layton Construction Company of Arizona is incorporated in Phoenix. Its original name was “Layton Southwest”
1988 Layton makes its debut on the Engineering News Record ‘Top 400 Contractors in the United States’ list, ranked at #363
1995 CEntry Constructors & Engineers is formed by key employees, Alan S. Layton and Layton Construction Company
1996 Layton is awarded its first $100 million project
2000 The Layton Companies is formed. CEntry and Layton Arizona are acquired as wholly-owned subsidiaries. Interior Construction Specialists is incorporated .
2002 Revenues exceed $300 million. Layton Construction of Arizona is awarded its first $100 million project.
2003 Layton celebrates 50 years of business. Layton is ranked as the 102nd largest commercial contractor in the United States by Engineering News Record.
2004 David S. Layton becomes president and CEO of The Layton Companies.
2006 Layton is ranked as the 77th largest commercial contractor in the United States by Engineering News Record.
