The Eccles Critical Care Pavilion, the University of Utah’s first expansion in more than 20 years, helps the hospital meet the increasing demand of patient care and fulfill its mission to advance education and research.
The facility has a full-range ICU, Surgical ICU, step-down units and a full-service trauma center. Included on the SICU floor are 26 ICU beds, seven exam rooms, 16 treatment rooms, six additional beds for Neuro ICU patients and a large nursing station in the center. The PACU floor contains four isolation units, 19 recovery rooms, six exam rooms and four nursing stations.
The new structure consists of one below-grade and three above-grade levels, with a design to accommodate a future addition of two floors with nine operating rooms above the facility. Other features of the building include a two-level, 171-stall parking garage with three heliport pads on the top level and bridge access to the John A. Moran Eye Center.
Patients can enjoy spectacular sunsets with cityscape views from most rooms because of the curtain wall facade utilized in the design. |
