The design-build team of Layton and Pasker Gould Ames & Weaver Architects designed and constructed a new distribution center facility for Dana Corporation.

The building shell, including the floor slab, was substantially complete in only 79 working days. This aggressive schedule allowed the owner to move in rocker conveyor systems while Layton worked on the exterior.
Quality expectations for the project were high, especially for the floor slab. Flatness tolerances for the random traffic floor were required to exceed Ff50. Layton crews undertook this task using a Whitman Rolling Screed, which poured 42 ft. wide by 450 ft. long concrete bays.

Actual floor dipstick measurements showed that Layton’s performance exceeded the specifications by an average of 145 percent, resulting in an average flatness of approximately Ff75.
