Cummins Intermountain, the regional distributor for Cummins Inc., contracted with Layton to build an updated and modern facility to service ThermoKing refrigerator units and to rebuild Cummins engines. The goal was to create an efficient and comfortable atmosphere that was employee friendly and used state of the art equipment.

Using the design-build method, Layton constructed a tilt-up facility with a repair and maintenance shop with eight truck bays, a dynamometer, a parts department, storage space and a two-story office area.

Layton overcame several construction challenges, such as poor soil conditions not reported in the soil report and inadequate space to pour the tilt panels. By working closely with the owner and self-performing all concrete work, Layton fast tracked the project and completed the high quality building ahead of schedule.
