The ATK Aircraft Commercial Center of Excellence is a state of the art facility that serves as the headquarters for ATK’s commercial aircraft programs. The primary usage is to manufacture engine components and airframes for the Airbus A350 as well as GE and Rolls-Royce engine programs.
The empty, 600,000 SF warehouse was aquired by the owner for the purpose of converting it to a manufacturing facility. Layton performed the conversion, which included creating several massive rooms within the shell, reinforcing the existing slab by installing footings throughout, and adding a new HVAC and electrical package to accomodate the owner's machinery.
Large open areas are required for this type of manufacturing to accommodate the large diameter autoclaves and many pieces of proprietary equipment.
