Wyndham Hotels and Resorts announced on Dec. 15, 2010 the completion of the first phase of the new Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach Wyndham Grand Resort. The multi-phased luxury resort and residential development is located at Poipu Beach on the south shore of Kauai, offering shore line access to some of the most popular beaches in Hawaii.
Layton Construction was the general contractor for the project, which broke ground in June 2008. Work for the project included the installation of resort amenities with two lagoon-type pools and parking garages as well as extensive site work and landscaping.
Phase one included the opening of 85 villas, lagoon pools, a fitness center, marketplace and upscale sundry shop. Each of the villas have custom furniture packages with premium finishes, gourmet-style kitchens with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and granite countertops, spacious walk-in closets, central air, exotic hardwood and natural stone flooring, floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead to terraces and state-of-the-art technology.
Phase two of the project is expected to begin in May 2011. When complete, the 322-unit resort will consist of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom luxury residences, a central pool with a water slide, hot tubs, cascading waterfalls with a swim-through grotto area, a poolside bar and grill, covered parking and semi-private elevators to each front door.
The property is owned by Salt Lake City-based Poipu Beach Villas LLC and is managed by San Diego-based Azul Hospitality Group, a hospitality management company that specializes in full-service hotels and upscale resorts.
"We have eagerly anticipated opening the doors of this one-of-a-kind property to those looking for high-end vacations and residences in Hawaii," Kent B. England, president of Poipu Beach Villas LLC, said in Wyndham's official press release announcing the completion. "We are pleased to celebrate this milestone with a renowned brand like the Wyndham Grand Collection and look forward to further developing the resort to provide the utmost in world-class amenities and services."
