Nov. 10, 2010
Layton Construction's Nashville team stepped up on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 in support of childhood cancer.
The team attended a red carpet event benefiting Gabe Sipos, an 8-year-old cancer survivor who is good friends with several of Layton's Nashville employees. Gabe's mother, Lu Sipos, founded "Gabe's My Heart" Chemo Duck Program in 2003 to provide Chemo Ducks to children all over the United States so they can learn about their cancer treatment. The program strives to provide education and comfort to children living with cancer through medical play using therapeutic tools.
The red carpet event, which was held in correlation with Gabe's big screen debut in the upcoming movie "Country Song" starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw, included live music and a silent auction of autographed Chemo Ducks signed by several musicians and actors, including Vince Gill, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Daughtry, the Backstreet Boys, Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce. The most coveted duck of the evening was one autographed by multi-platinum country recording artist Collin Raye, who also headlined the music for the evening. The Layton team collectively bid on the duck and eventually won.
The event was a huge success in spreading the word about how Chemo Duck offers support to families living with childhood cancer. The Layton team is proud to have been a part of it.
