In listings released in July 2009, Layton Construction is ranked No. 32 on Concrete Construction magazine's annual "CC100" list of the Top 100 Concrete Contractors in the nation. Layton is also ranked No. 16 on the magazine's list of the Top 20 Fastest Growing Companies.
The rankings are based on 2008 annual revenue and, according to Concrete Construction Editor in Chief Tim Gregorski, "specific variables [that] greatly influence revenue growth." These variables include a good reputation for quality concrete work, positive relationships with both employees and subcontractors, innovative practices with the technology, equipment and techniques related to concrete work, and a diversification of work to sustain the company during the current economic situation.
Layton had concrete revenues of $73.8 million in 2008, which totaled 8 percent of the company's overall revenue for the year of $922.2 million. The company experienced a 23.3 percent increase in total revenues from 2007 to 2008.
Layton maintains one of the largest concrete crews in the Intermountain West and works off of the belief that the quality of concrete work is directly related to the success of a project.
"Our corporate values of quality and integrity are embraced at every level of the company...from the head office to those sweeping the floors. Our commitment to these values is emphasized in our commitment to our employees. Our employees reciprocate that commitment in their daily execution of the work they do, striving to exceed the industry standards for quality, efficiency and innovation," says Mike Sears, Layton's director of concrete operations. "Through forged relationships with our suppliers we extend those values even further, creating the unity that results in successful lasting projects. In a nutshell--we believe in them and they believe in us."
