Layton Construction Co., Inc. started work in October on Phase I of the Outlets at Traverse Mountain, a unique retail project in Lehi, Utah that when complete this November will include 225,000 square feet of retail and common area space and more than 50 shops. Confirmed tenants for the retail center include Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Coach, Gap, Gymboree, Nike, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Under Armour, among others.
According to Mark Reed, Layton's superintendent for the project, there are currently an average of 290 workers on site every day. When complete, the project will include 10,000 cubic yards of concrete, nearly 1,400 tons of steel and 100,000 square feet of paved walkways. The outdoor mall will include a skylight that will cover the main promenade between the retail buildings, and radiant heated walkways will ensure the safety and comfort of shoppers even during Utah's cold winter season. A two-story, lodge-like Customer Service Center and Management Office will provide patrons with a comfortable indoor visitor center for assistance with their shopping needs. Large, upscale public family restrooms with heated tile floors and a two-story indoor/outdoor fireplace will enhance the overall shopping experience.
The project will bring a significant amount of money into the local economy. Completion of Phase I will provide 700 to 800 jobs, including about 70 managerial positions. At full build-out, the Outlets will provide about 1,500 jobs.
